We support Leeds Jewish Housing Association in preparing to party!

Leeds Jewish Housing Association are preparing to mark their Platinum anniversary this year with a huge celebratory summer party on Sunday 30th July.

The event, which takes place from 2pm-5pm at LJHA’s main site on Queenshill Avenue and Stonegate Way and has been made possible by the generous financial donations of corporate sponsors including Jackson Fire & Security.

Jackson Fire & Security currently support LJHA with fire safety across their property portfolio including servicing and inspections of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency lighting and fire doors.

Kris Milner of Jackson Fire & Security said, “We have been providing fire safety support for LJHA for a number of years, so deciding to support them with their 70th anniversary celebrations was a very easy decision for us.”

“It is an ideal opportunity for us to provide further support to a valued customer and to promote an event which includes partnerships with the local Fire & Rescue Service and Police Force, so it’s an event very much aligned with our values as an organisation.”

The event will include inflatables for children, circus and drama workshops, a huge range of stalls, free refreshments for residents, live music, an opportunity to view photos and magazines from the past, and visits from West Yorkshire Police and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Sunday 22nd October is the precise date that LJHA will mark 70 years of providing social housing and wider social welfare provision, predominantly within the Leeds Jewish community, but having made their mark on the housing landscape of North Leeds.

The various celebratory events, including the summer event on the 30th July, will be an opportunity for LJHA to say thank you to past and present tenants, to raise the profile of Leeds Jewish Housing Association within the wider Jewish community and the wider community in North Leeds, and to play their part in the wider suite of cultural and community events taking place in Leeds to mark Leeds 2023.

Although marking their Platinum anniversary, LJHA are keen to create a seamless link between past, present and future. Cherry Tree House, opened in June last year, was recently awarded the Northern Housing Consortium’s Sheltered Housing Scheme of the Year, one of 4 sheltered schemes which now comprise a sheltered village on the Queenshill site.

Looking to the future, with the current wait for family homes being 10-15 years, LJHA is working hard on behalf of Jewish families desperate to secure a home by looking at how they can build new homes.

The summer event will allow residents and the wider community to come together to celebrate a historical journey which will hopefully continue for many years to come.
